When visiting home, it's always nice to stop and eat at your local favorites. Luckily for me, my school Thanksgiving break allowed me to visit mine. I am always thankful for good food, especially with good people.
Here are some of my beloved spots right down in Boise, Idaho.
Whole Foods
Right on Broadway, this food chain is known for its healthy food. Each store is custom designed to the city. Boise's Whole Foods boasts the "River Room" bar above the store that is the perfect place to sip a cold IPA.
I love trying the different samples around the store and picking a new thing each time I go. Whether it's something from their to-go deli, salad bar, or bakery, nothing makes you feel like you're treatin your body like going to Whole Foods.
China Grand Buffet
As someone from Hawaii, and part Chinese, I would definitely say I have an interest in Asian food. It's my soul food, my comfort food, my go-to.
While I cannot personally and publicly support simplified Asian/Chinese buffets or restaurants, going to China Grand Buffet is as authentic of Chinese food as one can get in Idaho, with an even more stellar price. Craving Chinese? Three words, China Grand Buffet.
Boise Co-op
Maybe it's my one environmental science class, but while going to Whole Foods or other chains like Trader Joes is amazing, I will always be a Co-op goer. The Boise Co-op has always been a magical place for healthy good food and the job competition seems to only have made them better.
I even hear they are now in the Village in Meridian. Congrats Boise Co-op.
Kona Grill
Located in the heart of the Village in Meridian Kona Grill is local Asian-Hawaiian cuisine with a twist.
When I was there last I had a traditional Japanese spider crab roll and a Yamada roll. Sushi that slays. Eating here one can forget they're in Boise and feel like they're in an even bigger town. So in love.
Calle 75 Street Tacos
While waiting for a movie in the Village I happened upon these tacos to hold me over until after the movie.
I got the fish tacos, super fresh and citrusy. They were amazing, enough so that I bought more to take home. If you're ever visiting the village and want something quick, try these tacos.
Guru Donut Shop

A dozen of these weren't enough! From the hipster berry in the middle that tasted like a fruit loop donut, to the pumpkin Nutella one on the right I will forever love Guru Donut, Its Boise's Voodoo.
Goodwood
While my mother and myself are true foodies, my brother is one of the pickiest eaters you could meet. Goodwood is our middle ground. This barbecue company has simple, yet mouthwatering barbecue that keeps us coming back every time.
There are a million restaurants in Boise and these are only the start. From an Arabic grocery store/restaurant I know to the perfect breakfast spots I will have to show more of my favorite Boise food spots.
