14 Flowers And How They Represent Me

I recently became very interested in researching the symbolism of objects from around the world and found a lot of interesting speculations, factoids, and other information about many plants, primarily flowers! I had some vague knowledge about what receiving or giving some types of flowers meant (i.e. red roses meaning passionate love, yellow roses meaning friendship), but I did not know how many flowers had special meanings behind them. So, I took to the Internet and wanted to find some flowers I felt represented me in a positive way. Here are the top ones I found.

Anthurium

Anthurium

Also known as the “laceleaf," this flower represents hospitality and abundance!

Mauve carnation

Mauve Carnation

The mauve carnation represents dreams of fantasy, which I have to admit, very precisely represents my mind!

Cherry blossom

Japanese Cherry Blossom

This beautiful bloom, straight from an anime, represents gentleness, kindness, good education, and femininity. I definitely try to embody all of these traits!

Dahlia

Dahlia

The dahlia represents elegance and dignity, which I at least like to think I have in me.

Dandelion

Dandelion

Dandelions represent overcoming hardship. I believe that especially right now, this flower resonates with me, with going through rockier paths.

Elderflower

Elderflower

I had not heard of the elderflower before researching for this listicle, but I learned it represents compassion! Compassion is something I'm very driven by and try to make it part of my daily life.

Lemon blossom

Lemon Blossom

Lemon blossoms, which I learned do indeed bloom into actual lemons, represent discretion. I am a fairly private person who tries to stay out of others' business, so I found this flower fitting.

Oats (yes, it is a flower, apparently)

Oats

I won’t lie, I did not know oats were considered a flower. Anyway, they represent musicality! I have a lot of musical background, so I was interested to find out there was a flower that embodies that trait.

Oxeye daisy

Oxeye Daisy

My little sister’s namesake (Daisy, not Oxeye, if you were wondering) represents patience. While it does not entirely represent her personality, I like to think it does represent mine.

Pear blossom

Pear Blossoms

Pear blossoms, which, again, do produce the fruit, represent lasting friendship. I have many friends whom I've had for pandora my whole life as well and many friends I'm positive I will keep around for a long while.

White rose

White Rose

The white rose represents silence, virtue, secrecy, and wistfulness. In my own opinion, this flower may describe me the best out of any of the others.

Dark pink rose

Dark pink roses represent gratitude. While it certainly is something I am still working on, I do my best to portray my gratefulness toward others when I can.

Blue tulip

Blue Tulips

Blue tulips represent tranquility, trust, and respect. Outside of myself, I do my best to maintain these aspects in my environment and in my relationships with others.

Black tulip

Black Tulips

The black tulip represents power, strength, and elegance. These are three traits I most definitely try to live up to every day of my life.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
