5 Of The Most Underrated Dorm Room Snacks

After two weeks of officially living at college, I've discovered some snacks that are more important than others in dorm rooms, yet they are also the most underrated.

1. Granola or Breakfast Bars

When you're trying to get as much sleep as possible and you have a morning class, there's not much time to spare for breakfast. I have an 8:30 class every morning, and my granola bars save me from starving the whole morning.

2. Popcorn

If you have a microwave in your room, take full advantage of it and make some popcorn! With moving bonding nights or nights you get with friends to watch Bachelor in Paradise, popcorn will definitely come in handy. Also, if you have a bag of fresh popcorn while you're meeting other people in your building, you'll definitely make new friends. Who knew you could bond with people over popcorn?

3. Microwavable Mac 'n' Cheese

Same deal with the popcorn. You never know when you're going to get hungry at night and the dining hall seems miles away. It's also always nice to stay in for a night with your roommates and eat some good 'ol mac and cheese.

4. Candy

I don't know about you, but I get weird cravings where I just really want some Swedish Fish while sitting on my dorm bed. Stock up on your (and your roommates') favorite candies because maybe after a stressful day or a long night of homework, it's always relaxing to indulge a bit.

5. Fruit

Gotta get those vitamins some how! I personally eat a lot of fruit at home, and I wasn't used to not eating as much fruit in college, so I packed some tupperware and brought some back to my dorm from the dining hall. If there's a local farmer's market or grocery store nearby, go buy some fruit for the nights you want something sweet but healthy.

There are plenty more underrated snacks for your dorm room, but here are just a few of my favorites. Happy first week of college!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
