Traveling abroad is one of the most rewarding experiences one can have, from the once in a life time opportunities you get, to the stories you can tell, it's truly beyond belief. Here are Five Things I learned to Appreciate After Traveling Abroad:

The Simple Things in Life: life is tough as it is, but learning to appreciate the simple things such as fresh air, clean drinking water, and being healthy all make life that much more enjoyable to experience and to take on, especially after traveling to less fortunate countries and seeing those in need with a smile on their face and the kindness in their hearts even in their unfortunate conditions.

How Beautiful the Natural World is: everyone has been told the world is beautiful at some point in his or her life, but to experience the astonishing beauty of the world first hand is truly beyond words. Not only do you grasp how beautiful nature truly is, but you also get a sense of appreciation for the beautiful world you live and how amazing it really is.

The Smell of Foreign Foods: food is a way to connect and to indulge in cultures. Before traveling, the smell of something unknown wasn't pleasant to say the least, though traveling to foreign countries gives you the opportunity to really appreciate the new smells as you wander through foreign towns.

Different Cultures and Ways of Life: before traveling abroad, your way of living is the only way you know. After traveling, you realize there are so many unique cultures, and experiencing those cultures allows you to have a better appreciation and acceptance on all walks of life.

The Life I've Been Given: not everyone is as fortunate as others. Traveling abroad, especially to areas of poverty allows you to truly appreciate what you have and to be thankful for all of the opportunities and things you would otherwise have taken for granted.

Traveling abroad changes every individual in his or her own way. If you get the opportunity to travel abroad, take that chance and don't think twice about it. Life is beautiful, and through the ability to travel you can experience that beauty hands on. Do the things you wouldn't normally do, and love every second of it. If one thing is for sure from traveling abroad, it is that you'll have come out from that experience a changed person for the better.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
