Being a recent college grad who is struggling to find full time employment can be extremely daunting. Your whole future is a one big question mark, because the job market is just so bad these days.
The one thing that I've noticed since graduating is that I have tons more free time then I used to, and there are days I try to find things to fill the time with something worthwhile, until I find a job. If you're in the same boat as me, here are five things we could with our (short!) unemployed time before we get real jobs and don't have the freedom to anymore.
1. Travel
If you have the money too, I think you should travel as much as you can, see as much as the world as possible. Why not do it now, while you don't have a job and have to worry about vacation time or getting back in time for the new work week. You can go and experience new places without worrying about rushing back for your nine to five.
2. Get a part time job
I've worked in customer service for close to five years now. While there are days I regret ever taking the job, the job has taught me a lot about professionalism and communication. You can make a little money while you're looking for a full time job, and maybe make some friends too. It's a win-win.
3. Volunteer
Why not do something good with all this newly acquired free time and volunteer somewhere? The organization would definitely love the help and you'll feel good for helping a worthwhile cause.
4. Pick up a new hobby
Maybe you always wanted to try painting, or go to a spin class but never had the time. Now is your moment: go try everything that vaguely interests you, meet new people while you do it and make friends along the way. Take advantage of the time while you have it!
5. Spend time with friends and family
This one might seem obvious but I think it's definitely worth saying. This period might be one of your last moments of completely free time before you start grinding every day. Make sure you get in as much time as you can with friends and family before your days are busy and preoccupied.
