I started watching "Gossip Girl" in the 6th grade. Granted, given my age at the time, it most likely wasn't the most appropriate show for me to glue my eyes to every Monday, night but looking back on it now, "Gossip Girl" taught me and every other preteen how to face our problems head on, act with grace, and have fun while doing so. The most important lessons the show taught us through the biggest five relationships were how love works and that sometimes even the most unconventional people and situations lead us to what is best for us.
1. Serena and Blair
The most important relationship portrayed in "Gossip Girl" is the one between Serena and Blair. Through fights about boys, social status, and even *actual problems*, the love between these two prevails and we learn that no matter what happens in our lives, our best friends will always be there for us to lean on.
2. Blair and Chuck
Probably the most twisted and strange couple on any TV show - they scheme together, sabotage people together, and both have downright questionable morals. But at the end of the day, these two show us that if you're meant to be with someone, you will always find your way back to each other. They give us a perfect example of unconditional love and that sometimes even when you hurt the people you love most, it's usually for a good reason and everything will work itself out in the end. They taught us that it's okay to be afraid to fall in love with someone, but that love changes even the worst of people in the best of ways.
3. Vanessa and Dan
Although Vanessa will forever be the most unpleasant GG character, she once again showed us through her friendship with Dan that no matter how many fights friends go through and how many boyfriends and girlfriends come in between them, friends are ~forever~!!!
4. Rufus and Lilly
The most epic of love stories, Rufus and Lily gave all of us hope that even if we let that high school crush get away one day, he may come back into our lives after our 5 divorces, when his son dates our flawless daughter! In all seriousness, Rufus never lost hope on being with Lilly and even when things didn't turn out for the best in the end for them, he helped her find her real self and showed her what true love actually looks like.
5. Dan and Serena
The boy who fell in love with the most flawless girls in the school - Dan Humphrey. Dan taught Serena that it's okay to not be perfect, that your significant other should also be your best friend, and that at the end of the day no matter how many mistakes you make and how many bridges you burn, those who really love you will always be there for you.
