OK, so obviously there isn't actually a checklist of what to do to be happy and successful. If there were, the world would be a much happier and more love-filled place than it is. Maybe someday we'll get there. But anyway, here are a few steps to follow to aid yourself in making yourself happy and successful. One thing to remember, though, is that happiness and success are different for everyone!

1. Find your passion.

Now this one sounds a whole lot simpler than it actually is, but finding your passion isn't some sort of cryptic thing, either. Honestly. Just find something that you love and makes you happy. For some it is a sport, for others it's a book, for others still it's a business or a job. Just find what makes you happy.

2. Believe in yourself.

OK, OK. I know you're probably thinking I'm just giving you a list of basically impossible things that everyone tells you to do but not how to do. I swear, that's not the case. I made the decision that I was going to believe that I could accomplish whatever I set my mind to about a month ago. Since then, I've been a way happier person. I decided a few weeks ago that I was going to get more fit, and I've already lost pounds and inches and gained so much muscle. In addition, I believe that my new business I'm starting up will be a success, and even though it's still a newborn business, I feel it's off to a spectacular start!

All of this is mostly because of...

3. Be determined!

Seriously! If you tell yourself every day, "I can do this!" you just might be tricking yourself into being able to do it! Personally, I believe that everything works on the principle of the law of attraction. If you send out the idea that you're successful into the universe (feeling successful, telling yourself that you are successful, etc.), the universe will in turn give you success. I know it might sound far fetched to some, but give it a shot. What's the worst that can happen? You spent some time and effort building your confidence? Shucks. What a shame.

4. Remind yourself of what you want.

OK, so what do you want in life? Or maybe not in life but in this relationship? In this class? This job? Remind yourself of what you want. If your goal in this career is to become a CEO, remind yourself every day that someday you are going to become the CEO. Then...

4.5. Figure out how you're going to get it.

OK, so you don't necessarily need a day-by-day, step-by-step guide. But figure out what general things you need to do in order to accomplish what you need to accomplish in order to get what you want.

5. Remember to have fun.

As important as it is to your success and overall happiness it is to work your booty off to get what you want, remember to have fun and be happy in the meantime. Spend time with friends, go for a walk, read a good book, watch a movie. Do things that will make you happy today, and then get your booty back to working for what will make you happy in the future!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
