5 Scriptures For Peace
Radically Christian

When I think of peace, I think of silence. I think about not having a single worry in the world. I think of being able to hear myself breathe. God offers plenty of scriptures about peace in the Bible. Scriptures that tell you how to obtain peace and scriptures that promise peace. In a world full of decisions, schoolwork, stressful planning, things not working out and feeling so overwhelmed you just start to cry, here are five scriptures about the peace God offers to encourage you during the stressful days.

1. "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3

This is in the Bible. I don't know how much clearer this could be. You will keep in perfect peace if you keep your mind firm and unwavering in the Lord. And having a steadfast mind is easily obtained when you trust in the Lord.

2. "Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16

The Lord of peace himself. Hold up, wait a minute, put a little peace in it. (what was that?) But seriously, once again. This is extremely clear on the peace you are offered from God. At all times, and in every way.

3. "Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7

Life is crazy. Life throws curveballs. Life is hard. It is actually really hard. Life makes us all anxious at times. But the peace of God that surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and our minds so we have no reason to be anxious about anything.

4."The Lord gives strength to his people; the Lord blesses his people with peace." Psalm 29:11

The Lord blesses us with peace. Peace is a blessing given to us by the maker of heaven and Earth, so be aware of that blessing and your ability to have peace.

5. “I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

This is my all time, hands down favorite scripture because Jesus says this. If he's saying it, then it really has to be true right? If you don't trust any of the other scriptures, trust this one because He says so.

There is a way to have peace, and stillness, and quietness, in a world so full of craziness, anxiety and sorrow. Trust that God can do this — I mean He is the Prince of Peace.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
