Five Podcasts To Help Get You Through This Quarantine

1. Teenager Therapy

from Podbean.com

Hosts: Kayla, Mark, Gael, Isaac, Thomas

Based Out Of: California

Spotify Description: Five stressed, sleep-deprived, yet energetic teens sit down and talk about the struggles that come with being a teenager. Is high school really as bad as everyone says?

Why I Love It: This is one of the top-rated podcasts on Spotify, and I can totally see why. The first episode I listened to was titled "Heartbreak/Sliding Into DMs/Overthinking", and I remember one of the hosts completely breaking down talking about a relationship with his ex-girlfriend. I think this podcast could change the way adults look at the problems of teenagers, and they could realize how valid their feelings are. In all of the episodes, there is not subject that the teens will not tackle, and I applaud them for their willingness to do so.

2. Office Ladies

images.squarespace-cdn.com

Hosts: Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey

Based Out Of: California

Spotify Description: The Office co-stars and best friends, Jenna Fischer and Angela Kinsey, are doing the ultimate The Office re-watch podcast for you. Each week Jenna and Angela will break down an episode of The Office and give exclusive behind-the-scene stories that only two people who were there, can tell you.

Why I Love It: Obviously these two are the best of friends, and you can tell they are having the time of their lives. It's also really cool learning about all the behind-the scenes secrets.

3. The Audibility Podcast

from backtracks.com

Hosts: Lukas Heisler and Jae Cox

Based Out Of: Anderson, South Carolina

Spotify Description: Drink Coffee. Build Community. Be Giddy.

Why I Love It: Lukas and I met through mutual friends, so there is an immediate personal connection. Other than that, these guys talk about everything from Jesus, to films, literature, coffee, cultures, and more, tying it all to the meaning of true community. They get differing opinions from friends and professors they've built relationships with at Anderson University. The best part is how the hosts interact with each other, and you can tell these boys have let their guards down to take on these topics. It's funny, it's tasteful, and it's smart. I would say it's my favorite podcast on this list!

4. Pop Culture Happy Hour

media.npr.org

Hosted by: NPR

Based Out Of: California

Spotify Description: Pop Culture Happy Hour is a fun and freewheeling chat about the latest movies, television, books, and music.

Why I Love It: It is very informative about pop culture, and breaks down both opinions and facts regarding the latest media. The episodes are short, which is nice because it is less of a commitment to listen to an episode.

5. The Audacious and Unbridled Joy Podcast

Anchor.com

Host: Amelia Abernathy

Based Out Of: Starkville, Mississippi

Spotify Description: Listen and catch up with different faith-filled people in college. I want to show you there is no limit to the Joy found in college because it is found in different ways by different walks of faith. I never want an episode to sound the same — I want to prove you're not alone in what you think. In life, there are moments of weakness and unexplainable feelings of curiosity. I want people to hear walks of faith that are exploding like fireworks on the 4th of July and ones that are completely in question. Come sit at the table and cling to joy.

Why I Love It: Amelia is a fellow Mississippi State University student and is also from my hometown (Hoover, Alabama). She is so honest and personal in talking about struggles and her journey in faith. I end every episode feeling so convicted and refreshed. She features other MSU friends who she feels like have an impact on her community with great stories to have. I definitely want to be friends with this girl.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
