Five Of The Most Relatable TV Characters

Have you ever found that one character on a television show that you swear is based on your life? This happens to me so frequently. I don't know what it is, but characters are getting more and more relatable! There is just something about them that reminds you of, well, yourself... Here are five examples of characters that I relate to so much it's scary.

1. Jess from "New Girl"

This awkwardly-awesome character played by the amazing Zooey Deschanel is weird and proud! Jess enjoys singing to herself and getting into hilarious adventures with her band of crazy friends. Yes, this has to be about my life. I would most definitely say "Hey sailor," while attempting to flirt.

2. Tina from "Bob's Burgers"

I think this character is a perfect representation of me when I was middle school-aged... okay, maybe this is still me now. Tina enjoys being in love with 25 people at once, being sassy, and giving people on the opposite side of the milk cooler at the grocery store her number. She is quite the hopeless romantic, and she's basically me.

3. Shoshanna from "Girls"

As a 21-year-old character, I feel that Shoshanna truly knows what it feels like to be an average college student trying to make her way in the world. She is sassy, spunky, and full of emotions and ideals. I think she is so relatable to every girl our age.

4. Leslie Knope from "Parks and Recreation"

I basically want to be Leslie Knope when I grow up. She is the hardest worker ever, she is such a caring friend, and she has the most positive mentality a person could have. She is a powerful woman and can do anything. Plus she has a pretty cool group of co-workers in the Parks and Recreation Department! I think I definitely would be the "Leslie Knope" of any Parks and Recreation Department, or at least I would aspire to be!

5. Buffy Summers from "Buffy the Vampire Slayer"

Old school, I know, but what 90s kid didn't want to be Buffy Summers? She kicked butt and took names, saving the world basically every year of her life. Not to mention my first childhood crushes just happened to be all the guys on the show that Buffy dated. She was a powerful, funny, and kind woman. I would have to say this was my first "fictional role-model." She exemplified girl power, and that was pretty rad. I always thought Buffy was a cool character not only for her superpowers, but her real-life persona. She would fight vampires by night, but stress about boys and her history test during the day. She was quite a relatable character. #BringBackBuffy

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
