Many times people fail to see the actual sexism that exists with different genders within the world. We created these social concepts that causes an unfair role for each gender. Over the years the development has been laid out for people and they have been trying to break these roles. Sometimes these concepts create different standards for these genders and causes a disadvantage that made people understand the need for different movements to help different gender, such as feminism.

1. If a girl doesn't hook up with a guy, she is labeled as "uptight", yet if a girl does hook up with a guy, she is labeled as a "skank".

This sexist view has enhanced the thought that women owe something to men. When someone is flirting with another, there is a contributing thought that people have to owe the other sex if they flirted or made out. This double standard constantly makes women feel ashamed for their bodies and no matter what women do, they are always in a lose-lose situation.

2. If a girl goes out, they don't have to pay for drinks.

This double standard makes women be viewed as vulnerable and weak. Their independence goes down the drain and men assert this dominance that shrinks a women into insecurities to fall under pressure from men.

3. If a guy wants to date a girl, she can't sleep with too many guys, but if he sleeps with a lot of girls, it doesn't matter.

This causes and unfair double standard between men and women. It highlights the men's pleasure in sex, but diminishes the enjoyment that woman may feel during their time. Although some women may not care about this standard it shames women from satisfying their needs.

4. Guys need to make the first move.

The unrealistic standards society has set up for men creates not only a heightened dominance, but also a lack of assertion that actually attracts people. It allows the first move to be a cat call or a whistle at a lady that looks nice. It makes women feel out of control, because if they were to make the first move, it makes the male feel less of a man.

5. Girls are supposed to look hot, but not too slutty.

The lose-lose situation this created for women makes women need to lose weight or follow guidelines that help them feel sexy but not slutty. The lack of self care and love produces insecurities that constantly make women feel ashamed. Women feel the need to lose weight or buy certain clothes to fit in, yet no matter what women do, they are not accepted.

All of these double standards makes different things acceptable to do. For example, cat-calling or slut-shaming has been continuous throughout generations. It used to be acceptable, but the discomfort it brings to women helps people understand the necessity to stop it. To stop slut-shaming because women should not be referred to as a slut. To stop cat calling because women are not objects, men are not objects, and people are people. People should finally treat them like people, in decency and love.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
