1. "Elf"
Ever wonder what would happen if you actually saw Santa in the middle of the night? Now imagine if you went back to the north pole with the jolly guy. Elf is a movie full of laughter and Christmas spirit. Buddy the elf goes searching for his real dad in New York after finding his name on the naughty list, and eventually makes his father believe in Santa. We all hit a stage in our life where we realize Santa is not real. According to Buddy, we would all be sitting on a throne of lies. If you are searching for a movie for the family that is full of laughter, and can give you Christmas spirit early, then Elf is your movie.
2. "Polar Express "
"ALL ABOARD THE POLAR EXPRESS!" Picture this. You are sleeping and in the middle of the night you hear all this noise. You get up to see what it’s all about and next thing you know you are on your way to see Santa. But be careful not to get out of your seat, as you may get yelled at. "The Polar Express" is an adventure that everyone wanted to experience as a kid. Furthermore, listening to the song “When Christmas Comes to Town,” just gave you the chill and makes you anxious to find a bell and claim that you saw Santa and that you “believe.” But before you watch this movie, check if you have any holes in your pocket and be prepared to “believe” in Santa.
3. "Home Alone "
Which one, you ask? In my opinion, the first two. But that may be arguable. One thing's for sure, "Home Alone" is an all-time classic and makes you “thirsty for more." Kevin is a brave kid who gets left home alone, made Christmas interesting for two burglars, and gives us all a laugh each time we see it. The most wonderful time of the year, although the two guys may disagree. Home Alone was my very first Christmas movie I saw and actually understood. Maybe this is why it’s one of my favorites, or maybe its because I wouldn’t be as brave as Kevin. "Home Alone" almost has to be on everyone’s top five Christmas movies of all time.
4. "How The Grinch Stole Christmas"
An all-time classic thanks to Dr. Seuss. I can’t picture this movie without Jim Carrey. The Grinch just is not the same. People of Whoville always are full of Christmas spirit and joy. Cindy Lou Who is a young girl who tries to get the Grinch to believe in Christmas. She brings everyone to having a joyful and happy Christmas spirit. Whether you choice to watch the live action or cartoon version, this movie is a classic that will fill your heart with joy.
5. "It's a Wonderful Life"
The classic itself, one of the most iconic Christmas movies. The film stars James Stewart as George Bailey, a man who has given up his dreams in order to help others, and whose imminent suicide on Christmas Eve brings about the intervention of his guardian angle, Clarence Odbody. Clarence shows George all the lives he has touched and how different life in his community would be if he were never born. Many scenes in modern day films are taken from "It's a Wonderful Life," and many shows impersonate it. I recommend to anyone who hasn't seen it to watch it! Maybe you'll see a reference or two in other Christmas movies?
