A First Time Experience With Hair Dye

Why my hair is now purple.

A First Time Experience With Hair Dye
Abigail Scott

So to set the scene, I lost a bet with a friend. While getting pumped to play one of the escape games in the area with my sister, and two friends, I decided it would be a good idea to bet that we couldn’t get out within the hour given to us, but if we did I would dye my hair any color picked as long as it wasn’t orange. It is safe to say I lost that bet and have fulfilled it today. And now my hair is a vibrant purple.

This hair dye is the first time I have ever done anything with my hair, and I have to say that despite my apprehension to dying it a funky color, I have fallen in love with it quickly. Go big or go home, right? The process started with me chopping off enough hair to create a furry monster on the floor of the salon, and then we bleached it, and boy was that a process. I had foils in my hair for about two hours, before we rinsed and dried it, just to put more foils in my hair. Because of how thick my hair is, I was in the salon for about four hours, but the result is more than worth it.

I thankfully have wonderful friends who chose to dye my hair my favorite color, purple, and I can’t stop looking at it, and playing with it. My hair just became a fabulous source of my personality, as weird as that sounds, and I can’t wait to walk around with my new hairstyle.

For those who are thinking about dying your hair, while it is pretty expensive compared to at home dyes, go get it professionally done, at least the first time. There will be no errors if done this way. And also, don’t go alone. Take a friend to dye your hair together. One of the best parts of this experience was being able to yell at my friend, Kristen, from across the tiny salon as she got her hair dyed back to black. I definitely recommend getting your hair dyed, and most especially recommend to do whatever color you want, the crazier the better!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
