Another semester has passed, and every college student can finally say "see ya later" to their textbooks, the library, and those dreadful 8 a.m. classes. Some may only be one semester in and others may only have one left until they enter into the "real" world. For me, I just finished up a great semester that came with ups and downs, but I wouldn't change it for the world. These are the things I have learned:
1. Saying no is one of the most freeing things ever.
2. Get involved in new clubs, even if you're not a freshman.
3. Take. A. Nap.
4. It's okay to move out of your apartment 6 weeks in.
5. I still miss my dog.
6. You don't have to drink and party to have fun.
7. You may not have the same friends as last year.
8. But, you will make other great friends, nonetheless.
9. Cinnamon Roll Lattes are the best thing in the entire world.
10. Happiness is the key to living your best life.
11. Don't over-extend yourself with social activities.
12. You won't always be the smartest in the room, and that's normal.
13. Jesus is still with you every step of the way.
14. You will survive without a dishwasher.
15. Pet every single dog there is to see on campus.
16. Going to therapy isn't as embarrassing as you think it may be.
17. Self-care is important.
18. No, you will not survive on 4 hours of sleep every night.
19. Don't hold yourself back from eating the damn cheeseburger.
20. Remember to clean your apartment.
21. Get involved in campus-wide activities.
22. Don't spend $500 in one month.
23. Call your mom every once in a while.
24. Going to the gym is part of stress-relief.
25. Also, Zumba is my new favorite thing.
26. It is better to be over-organized than not organized at all.
27. A fresh cup of coffee is the only thing that really gets me up in the morning.
28. I REALLY don't like spiders, especially if I find one at 3 a.m.
29. Find a walking buddy to class for those 8 a.m.'s.
I still have 5 semesters left, as well as three years of graduate school. Even with just a little bit of college experience under my belt, I have already learned so much. I can't wait to see what else God throws my way in these next few years, and for what lessons he will help me learn.
