Your First Job Out Of College Won't Be Your Dream Job, But That Doesn't Mean You're Any Less Closer To Reaching That Dream

Graduating college means the world is your oyster, but a lot of the time it doesn't feel like it. There are so many opportunities that tend to come to recent college graduates and the pressure to find the "perfect" job can be a lot. But news flash, you don't have to find your dream job right out of college. There are instances where this does occur, but if it doesn't happen, then that is okay. Most of us haven't experienced that and let me tell you I am one of them.

So often it is put onto people that they need to get their dream job and have it right away, but that is more often than not the case. There is a lot of times where people need to work their way up to get to the point where they have their dream job. I have learned that there is some peace to knowing that it's okay that I don't have my dream job right now. And I am definitely okay with that because I will be able to get some more experience and allow myself to get set up in the working world and then reach for my goals.

Just because you don't land your dream job right out of college, does not mean that your life is over. Instead of looking at it in a negative way, take a second and look at the big picture. Currently, you are here at point A, your dream job/goal is point B, you now just have to figure out what route you are going to take to get from point A to point B. There are stepping stones that must be taken to create a path, you can't just get there by flying.

On top of all of it, is it really your dream job if you didn't have to put some effort into getting it, it makes it all the more sweet when you know how much it took for you to get to that point. Now you can feel truly accomplished because you got there and you finally made it.

There will be times where it feels like it is awful to work these jobs that aren't your dream job. It may feel like it is useless to be working and why can't you just get to your dream job already. But don't let these things get you down, remember where you're at right now is not where you want to stay. It is just a job and you can leave it behind when you go home at the end of the day. Whether it be because you need the money or you are working towards starting whatever your dream job is, just because you aren't doing that dream job right now, doesn't mean that it isn't a possibility. Sometimes it can take a couple of steps to get you there and that's okay. Work is just work, so believe in yourself and get through your work day because that dream job that you are waiting for is out there and just within your reach. Your current job is just a step on your path towards reaching your dream.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
