First Day of Summer

Summer is Finally Here

First Day of Summer

In 6 days, I will finally be headed home to the comfort of my own room, bed, and food. Yes, I will miss college, but I love not having class and any immediate responsibilities waiting for me the next day in the early morning. Though it is finals week, I've already made a list of plans for what I'll be doing the first day of summer vacation off from college (until of course, I start my summer job as a camp counselor).

1) Cry in joy as I wake up from a peaceful slumber in my own room with no alarm blaring to wake me up for class.
Wow. I never thought this day would come. Finally. No school, freedom, breakfast in bed, not needing to sleep in my own bed with an excuse for "a night trip". No judgement.

2) Start watching TV
Fortunately, now that I have no homework to do, I can finally catch up on tv, AND start new tv shows. Thank God for modern technology and the Jesus of our time: Netflix <3

3) Make breakfast
Eh, eating isn't that important. I need to see if Olivia Pope and Fitz are gonna get back together AGAIN. (I hate the indecisiveness of their relationship, but they're so cute together, UGH)

4) Answer texts and phone calls now that I'm on vacation
Ok, I know this is pretty important to do while not doing anything else important, but ugh, I hate hearing the sound of generic Apple tones going off every 5 seconds.

5) Unpack
The worst part of vacation. Unpacking my life in my room, and scattering things all over the house just so it doesn't get too hot during the summer. Sorry mom and dad; but this is what happens when I have the hottest room in the house :P

6) SLEEP
True Story: This past week, I got a total of 31 hours of sleep. I think this will be the only thing I'll be doing during the whole break. So, I can effectively just scratch this list, as sleep is life.

Well, here's a complete, total and satisfying list to just get me through the first day of break. Though the annual problem for our generation is finding a good way to summer vacation, we might as well focus on today, and get through the rest later.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
