Firefly Music Festival: What Is It Exactly?
Philly

In our day and age, everyone loves to go to concerts featuring our favorite artists. We spend hundreds of dollars on decent seats just to have the experience of a lifetime, something that we will remember long into our old age. You might think you've seen it all, concerts in stadiums, in the park or in your nearest city. But if you're looking for something new this summer I think you should check out the Firefly Music Festival where everyone who loves music travels to.

Some of you might be like me and know of the Firefly Music Festival but aren't really sure what it is.

Firefly Music Festival is a huge music festival that happens every year and is located in Dover, which is the second largest city in Delaware. It takes place over the course of four days, Thursday through Sunday (June 15th through 18th). You can buy a package pass and go all four days or you can buy single day passes if you only want to see certain bands. The prices range from $89 for single day passes to $2,499 for Super VIP passes, so there's definitely something for everyone. Every year there are over 140 different bands that come to play on 9 different stages. A few of the artists that will be there this year are Twenty One Pilots, Chance the Rapper, The Weeknd, and Kesha.

I've never been to this music festival or any big music festival like this before, but in my opinion, if you love music as much as I do, it's definitely something that you should look into attending. I went onto the website to see what else the music festival has to offer. It's absolutely amazing how much stuff they have going on all four days. They have different activities going on like a headphone disco (which is personally something I've always wanted to do), sports leagues such as volleyball, morning yoga, and so much more. Something that I didn't know is that they actually have a campground that you can stay in if you're attending more than one day of the festival. How awesome is that? I've always loved camping and when you combine that with amazing music and new people it's the ultimate weekend experience. By staying on the campground you're able to meet other people near your tent and make a TON of new friends.

After all the music and excitement is over, those who decided to camp out for the weekend have the chance to donate their gear to the Code Purple Project. This project assists people who are homeless in Kent County. Code Purple is completely funded by donations from the community, especially Firefly. The Code Purple team and their partners walk through the campsite at the end of the festival looking for durable camping products like sleeping bags, tents, flashlights, clothing, and reusable water bottles. There are two different ways that you can donate. Festival participants receive a purple tag and a zip-tie to attach to whatever they want to donate at the end of the festival and they can leave it where their site was. There is also a tent set up for the duration of the festival for participants to drop off whatever items they decide that they don't want to use.

Even before the festival starts, Firefly is helping those in need as well. Firefly gives festival goers the ability to attend for FREE! "How do they do that?" you might ask. Firefly has set something up called Music Gives To St. Jude Kids. By fundraising money for St. Jude you're able to win different prizes based on how much money you raise, including two FREE VIP PASSES (but that's only if you raise $2,500). Besides fundraising to win prizes there are also other ways that you can help such as making a one-time donation at checkout when you purchase your passes, leaving a tip at the merchandise store at the festival, and purchasing select Firefly memorabilia when you buy your pass.

After doing some research about the festival and seeing all of the different components of it I'm seriously considering attending this amazing festival. It's honestly an incredible experience that you'll be able to remember for the rest of your life. Making connections and meeting a ton of new people from so many different walks of life. It's the ultimate music experience.

Firefly Music Festival isn't just about listening to your favorite bands, it's about making memories with friends both new and old and having the time of your life.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
