Everyone knows that the end of the semester ends up being the hardest part. The assignments are really close together and it feels like there is no room to breathe. Then you have to worry about studying for exams and making sure you are ready for next semester. If you want to reach that point of relief, here are a few tips.

Don't go overboard

Try not to stress yourself out - this won't help you at all. One thing I do is keep my planner up to date. I have up to 4 things at the most (normally) to do during that day. When those are done, I don't work on anything else because I don't want to become super stressed. Take breaks as needed and just take a breath and refocus.

Know that your future is based on your performance

You are more likely to give it your all if you know that your future depends on how well you do. For example, if you are trying to go to grad school, then you have to do well in your undergrad; it's a fact. Also, remember how much money you are paying. You don't want to waste this to just have fun and make bad grades; no one does.

Get Good Sleep

Most of the time college students get less and less sleep because they go out with friends or think they have to stay up all night to study. It is scientifically proven that if you study then get the proper amount of sleep before a test that you will wake up and remember more than if you stayed up all night to study. So ultimately, sleeping will help you do better on your tests.

Do Not Procrastinate

The semester is coming to an end, so get things done. It will help you if you do things before the day they are due so that you aren't rushing to do 10 things in one day. Do not let the unimportant things get in the way of the important. If you spread out your assignments to do them before due dates you will feel refreshed and calm instead of rushed.

Don't start to think that little assignments don't matter

The "little" assignments add up. You might do really bad on a test but a few of the little assignments that you get a 100 on could help bump up your grade. Don't discount how much these can help you. I know it seems like if you only do the big ones you don't have to do these but they can really help.

Reward Yourself

When you finish that long 10-page research paper, give yourself a reward whether that be some food or time with friends. Just make sure once again that you don't go overboard or the time will get away from you and the reward will become a distraction. Having a reward makes us look forward to finishing assignments so we can get another reward, and makes us work harder.

Set achievable goals

https://www.tlnt.com/how-to-set-goals-the-smart-way/

Try to spread out your studying/assignments. For example, maybe spend 30 minutes a day studying for a test per class that you have. This will make it so the night before the test you aren't just cramming all the information in one night. This is much better than wasting time and maybe not even learning anything because chances are your finals are cumulative, and you will need that information again.

Find a Study Buddy

You are less likely to skip out on doing work if you have someone else to hold you accountable. Also when you take breaks you have someone to chat with. Also if you see them getting things done you will have the motivation to also get things done. Discussing things with other people might also help you remember information because you'll remember the conversation.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
