Finding Yourself After You've Lost Yourself

It's OK to lose a sense of yourself at one point or another, as long as you find yourself again.

Sometimes, you need to get outside yourself. Just long enough to take a look from a different perspective, a look at yourself. When you're all caught up in life, you may lose yourself. This is why it is important for you to examine your life, from the outside looking in. Doing this will quickly help you discover if you need to rediscover yourself. As I did quite recently.

I was so overwhelmed with all the new changes that had been occurring in my own life. I just got out of a long-term relationship, I was about to go to college where I thought I would have to finalize my career choice, I was leaving my family and friends behind. Everything that was comfortable began to lose its stability. The thought of this frightened me. I tried to run away from the truth and from myself. In this, I let all these emotions I was experiencing take over who I was and how wanted to live my life.

I hid who I was behind these emerging feelings of fear and sadness. I began to settle for less than I deserved. I tried to be someone who wanted to take the easy way out, so I could dispose of my worries. Myself, always being optimistic, started to dread on all the bad.

But, that is simply not who I am. And changing who I was, was not right. I have an open mind and a fearless heart. I am not someone who settles for anything less than what I want. I am a risk taker. That's what makes my life exciting. I don't like negative people, or negativity at all. That's just who I am as a person.

So, how do you find yourself when you're lost?

You can find yourself within yourself. Just be honest with yourself. You know who you are, what you believe in, what you stand for, what you want to do and be, where you want to go, what you want to see. Only you know these answers. Don't second guess who you are. Don't hide from your emotions. Don't let life get in the way of who you are.

XO and best wishes,

Ashley Rose Corbin

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
