Finding Rest In Community

how a nature walk was reviving

Finding Rest In Community
Emily Roberts

Nature can be so relaxing and gives us the opportunity to take a step back to breathe for a minute. Often times we don't realize the kind of impact that taking a step back, followed by a deep breath, can have on our lives. This past Saturday I woke up at 6:00 am, yes 6:00 am on a Saturday, to go on a hike with ladies from Cru. Cru is a worldwide organization whose mission is to create a caring community that is passionate about connecting people with Jesus Christ.

On this hike I thought we might have quiet time and pray. Although these thing would happen, we would learn way more than I thought and become much more refreshed. As we arrived at Rising Park we got to stop and pick up rocks. The rocks that we chose were supposed to mimic burdens in our lives. I choose one large rock and one small one. As we walked, we reflected on those burdens. Upon reaching the peak of Rising Park all we could see was a cloud of fog overlooking Lancaster. After this we gathered together and discussed Matthew 11: 28-30. We then had alone time where we could digest this experience and journal our thoughts. This opportunity was so refreshing; getting to realize that many of the women were also struggling. Many times we feel that people have an easy life or any easy way about it. This community is so important because it helps us see and understand what everyone else is going through. It is important to remember that we are told to come to the Lord and he will give us rest. Through this stressful time of year, as the seasons come to a change, remember to go to the Lord and He will give you rest. We cannot fix our burdens alone.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
