You Must Protect Your Personal Peace In Today's World

Your well-being should come first.

Each morning brings a new day to experience successes and laughs but also disappointments and failures.

While we definitely wouldn't mind the good parts, there's not much we can do to avoid the bad ones. However, we can control how we react to them. We must constantly make an effort to shelter ourselves from things that cause us unnecessary stress and anxiety. We have to make deliberate efforts to protect our peace.

Protecting your peace entails cutting out or adding things to your life in order to minimize the amount of stress and pressure you feel on a daily basis, as well as to just get through the day. Doing this is essential to our well-being and mental health because we are not allowing needless things put a strain on our already hectic lives.

Making the effort to protect your life's peace is not a matter of selfishness: it's looking out for your best interests.

So whether that means unfollowing a friend on Instagram because of the way they use their platform or declining a party invitation to stay in and relax, you should do it. Don't worry about what others might think of you doing something that you know is important for your mental health. Your well-being is far more important than anyone's opinions or any obligation you might feel for that person.

In this world that's full of so much hate, crime, and dishonesty, we must take any steps that we can to secure the peace we've established in our lives. We cannot let anyone or any circumstances take it away from us because it's one of the only things we can truly depend on.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
