Finals Week: As Told By Schmidt

After three months of making memories and attempting to make it to every class, we finally get a much-needed break from the rough life that is college. It is all fun and games until we come back from break and realize that it is almost finals week.

These next three weeks are filled with constant anxiety where we pretend to know what the hell we are doing and try our hardest to get our sh*t together.

Many emotions are felt during the lead up to the end of finals week, and they are best shown by cable television's funniest character, Schmidt from New Girl:

It starts with the Friday before dead week, where you convince yourself that your finals are far enough away to justify going way too hard all weekend.

You wake up on Sunday full of regret. All of your responsibilities that you put off come and slap you right in the face. It makes you sick thinking about everything you have to do this week.

You get to all your classes and it is like your teachers are setting you up for failure. No study guides provided, the review sessions are basically useless. Then your professor tells the class that the average on the final is a C+. Wow, savage.

You have spent all of dead week living in the library. You've made hundreds of flash cards, busted out essays, and read more chapters than you can count. You proceed to go home and spiral into an emotional breakdown.

Your roommates will then try to make you feel better by telling you it will all be okay and that it's just a test. It doesn't matter, though, you're already dead on the inside.

After a long week of cramming, you take the weekend to wallow in self-pity while eating an entire large six cheese Wisconsin pizza from Dominos. It is almost finals week and it is going to hit you like a freight train.

It is the Sunday before your first day of finals. You try to cram but, really, you just cry a lot.

You wake up after a week of hell, and you are ready. You take a quick glance at your flash cards, give yourself a pep talk, and head to your exam.

You come out of your first exam feeling confident, you knew basically every answer. So you go to your next exam feeling unstoppable.

You have finally taken all your exams and turned in all your papers. Then all of a sudden, BAM. You start second guessing yourself. You failed, you are going to flunk out of college, and your whole life is over. But, at least you have a great personality, right?

You pack and head home. The days between your last final and your final grades being posted is when you slyly dodge your parents 20 million questions about how finals went.

Your final grades are in, *heavy breathing*, holy sh*t. From the mercy of God himself, you passed ALL of your finals. You got the GPA you hoped for and life is good again.

Christmas break has finally begun! You now get to start to enjoy a month of sleeping, Netflixing, and partying. It is a relief that you don't have to worry about finals for another five months!

Happy finals week everyone!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
