Your Transition From Finals Week To Summer As Told By Ross Geller

After weeks and weeks of studying for your final exams, we are expected to snap out of it for summer. No matter what day of the week your exams started on, whether it was Monday or Friday, the second you exit that final exam you are supposed to leave all your troubles behind for that summer sun. If people actually analyzed us after these past two weeks, they would be shocked at our quick emotional changes. From weeks of stress building, sleep deprivation, pre/mid/post mental breakdowns, to quickly switching gears into a carefree, ecstatic person.

Who better to describe our sudden transition from finals week to summer break than Ross Geller, the king of emotional roller coasters.

1. Staring at that venti double shot espresso that's supposed to get you through this all-nighter.

2. When you finally find a chance to go out one last time with your roommate before all study hell breaks loose.

3. When your professor decides to change their mind and doesn't curve the final grade.

4. Realizing your exam week actually just started and you feel like it's been months.

5. Trying to forget all of your responsibilities.

6. When you finally realize the Starbucks baristas at Stroz are probably more stressed than you, yet they are still here to make you your coffee.

7. When you show up to your exam at 7:30 AM when it's actually at 7:30 PM.

8. When your parents call to see how finals week is going.

9. When you try to politely tell the rude people around you to be quiet while you study.

10. When you finally lose it because people just won't shut up.

11. Trying to convince your professor to help you minutes before your exam even though you skipped every class this semester.

12. Listening to your friends complain about how stressful THEIR exam week is as you are slowly dying too.

13. Leaving the class that you despised going to every single day this semester for the last and final time.

14. Trying to get tan skin for summer, but your brain is too jumbled because of finals.

15. Finally appreciating your roommate because you realize you both are moving out for good.

16. When you're finally done with school, moved out of your apartment, and finished your drive home, so all stress is released.

17. First night of summer when you are still slightly emotionally crazy from all your extraneous nerves the past two weeks.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
