College Kids, If You Care About Yourself, Don't Do These 5 Things This Finals Season

A few pointers from a seasoned college goer.

It's not the most wonderful time of the year, yet! At least not until you conquer finals, then you are home free! As a Junior, this is obviously not my first rodeo and I'm here to share some tips on what exactly you should NOT do in preparation for finals.

1. Do not waste "dead days"

Dead days are the two days before finals begin when classes are canceled and they are simply there for use as extra study days. Use them wisely and don't sleep in until 2 p.m. and goof off because you will regret it. Unless your finals are blow-offs, then by all means!

2. Do not get those extra espresso shots

Alright, if you are not usually a coffee drinker, please do not order a drink with a name like "The Nervous Breakdown" with four espresso shots, you might end up being super jittery and shaky and not be able to study because you think something is seriously wrong. Happened to a friend (me lol).

3. Try to stay away from your bed when studying

If you are like me, you like to sit in your bed, TV on, and do your homework. For finals, I like to find hidden gems like a little bakery or coffee shop and post up. I mean you could always be boring and go to the library. That works too, but it's not as fun.

4. Do not study for 8 hours straight

Take some breaks, go eat a snack. Makes it a little less painful and you are less likely to have an emotional breakdown.

5. Do not pull an all-nighter

Yeah, let's be real, it's gonna happen. Don't say I didn't warn you.

That's all I've got, good luck kids.

It's officially December. There is less than a month of 2024, and I still feel like yesterday was summer. Now comes the merriest time of the year, the Christmas season.

Everyone has been waiting for this time of year since mid-October (which is way too early, in my opinion) or before. It's a time of love, family, memory-making, and gift-giving. A lot of times when I ask friends and family what they want, I get a lot of "I don't know" or "I don't care."
