I (Finally) Made It!

The day I have been waiting for has finally come... I'm officially 21 years old! Last Monday, right as the clock struck midnight and turned into my birthday, I ran to the bar down the street with a smile on my face. As I sat at the bar with a beer in my hand, I felt like a little kid on Christmas, overwhelmed with happiness. Something about handing my actual ID to a bartender made me feel so grown up and honestly a little bit cool. As the youngest one in my family, I have been looking forward to this day for years. Gone are the times where I had to be the designated driver, and here come the ones where I am calling them to pick me up. After rejected fake IDs (sorry mom) and failed attempts to sneak into the bars, I can finally hand over my real ID with pride. The night of my 21st was nothing short of my expectations. Although it was in the middle of the week, being at the bars with my best friends and parents was so much fun. The bar scene on the weekends was completely different than my experiences on Tuesday filled with familiar faces shoulder to shoulder. I pulled the basic 21 year old girl whole night-gold balloons, sash and all.

Walking into the liquor store felt like a kid walking into a candy shop. While I did feel grown up knowing I could purchase anything myself, being inside made me feel young at the same time. I felt like I did not belong and it did not feel real that I could be in there. I was so excited to be carded and was a little disappointed when she didn't ask for my ID.

I have been waiting for this day for so long, I can now join all my 21 and over friends and family to the bars and different events. I don't have to miss out and wait for everyone to be home, I can be right there with them. Even though I have been waiting for this day for a long time, it is crazy that is here and over already. I finally made it!

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
