It's been a painfully freezing winter (in Boston, anyway), which means many of us are hiding from the cold and are cuddling into bed, surrounded by blankets and probably Netflix. When doing that, people typically watch their go-tos: Stranger Things, The Office, It's Always Sunny, Bojack... but, maybe it's time for something new. Here are a list of a few films on Netflix that are overlooked, but are certainly worth a watch.
1. Raw (2016)
This acclaimed French film is not for the faint of heart. It tells the story of Justine, a young veterinary student who is desperate to fit in no matter what the cost, including throwing away her morals... which could end in dire consequences.
2. Berlin Syndrome (2017)
Based upon the Melanie Joosten novel of the same name, the film follows Clare, an Australian tourist doing what most young women dream about - going to another country and meeting a handsome stranger whom she begins to form a relationship. While in Berlin, she meets a young German named Andi. They click after a night together, and Clare's smitten. However, things are not as they seem, as Clare begins to realize he has anything but good intentions.
3. The Babadook (2014)
This thoughtful (and often touching) Australian psychological horror will keep you on your toes the whole movie. Amelia, who has just lost her husband, struggles to raise her chaotic son Samuel on her own. Things take a turn for the worst, however, when it appears that the monster from his pop-up children's book is haunting them.
4. Midnight in Paris (2011)
Woody Allen directed this romantic tale of nostalgia. Beautifully written and shot, the film tells the story of an unfulfilled writer who yearns to be a part of the past. While roaming the streets of Paris, he gets just what he asked for.
5.Creep (2014)
Aaron goes to a stranger's home to film for a day; he is told the man wants to make a film for his child, as he is dying. However, it becomes more and more obviously that the man is not telling the full truth...
