The Oscars are this weekend, and people may be thinking about their favorite movies, not only of this year but any in the past. I’m a complete cinephile and never can find enough time to watch most of what’s on Netflix, let alone the personal list of films I want to see. Or maybe a movie I’ve seen (and love) but want to revisit.
Too many movies, too little time taken up by too much work and other responsibilities.
Some people study with classical music in the background, claiming it helps them focus. I’ve picked up this habit as well, but instead of classical, I often turn on my “Movie Songs” playlist filled with film scores.
In the Oscars spirit, I want to share my top 10 favorite songs from this list with you, in the hope that you try this habit out as well. It brings some variety to the music when classical gets tiring, and takes me back to memories of the film in my mind as I work.
Enjoy these film scores!
1. Theme from “Jurassic Park” (1993) by John Williams
2. "I’m Forrest...Forrest Gump” from Forrest Gump (1994) by Alan Silvestri
3. Theme from "Cinema Paradiso" (1988) by Ennio Morricone
4. “Princess Leia” Theme from Star Wars: A New Hope (1977) by John Williams
5. “Epilogue” from La La Land (2016) Justin Hurwitz
6. “Flying Theme” from E.T.: The Extra-Terrestrial (1982) by John Williams
7. Selections from West Side Story (1961) by Leonard Bernstein
8. "Pops Salutes the Oscars" by Leigh Harline
9." Singin’ in the Rain" from Singin’ in the Rain (1952) by Herb Nacio Brown
10. "Leaving Hogwarts" from Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone (2001) by John Williams
Enjoy the Oscars this weekend. But, even after the weekend passes, hopefully, this list will help bring some variety to your study music routine.
