I'm a late April baby. April 25, to be exact. The "perfect date," to reference "Miss Congeniality," and it's actually felt like that up until this point.
Being one of the younger ones in my class has never really affected me much. There wasn't anything that my nine-year-old friends could do that I couldn't since I was only eight, so I never thought much about it. Then I got into my junior year of college—the year everyone was turning 21. Now, each weekend leading up until that glorious milestone feels like torture. Gone are the days where all my friends just wanted to hang out at our house. Now, it's the year of the bars and clubs, and I'm off to a very late start. But rather than describe this struggle to you, I've found some .gifs that perfectly depict what it feels like to be the youngest in your friend group.
1. Friday night comes around, and you think you all are going to hang out at one of your friend's apartments.
2. Then they tell you that they've decided to go out to a bar later instead.
3. You automatically become their driver, and suddenly, your small car seats nine people.
4. When you get there, they convince you to try to just walk in and join them.
5. They give you some confidence, so you decide to give it a shot.
6. But then you see the bouncer and rethink your decision.
7. So you go home and watch a Netflix movie. Or three.
8. Then you hear your roommates come in at 3 a.m., so you go out to see how their night was.
9. But for some reason, they tell you they can't function without food now, so you start cooking for them.
10. Then they tell you everything that happened throughout the night.
11. And you can't stop thinking of how fun it will be when you can finally see it for yourself.
Thankfully, I have some pretty awesome friends that include me as much as possible, but I still cannot wait to turn 21. I'm sure we all know the struggle, or at least will in the months to come.
And to all you August babies—hold on tight.
I'm thinking of you.
