Feelings You Get When You Love Makeup

It's a little bit of an obsession.

For all those out there who love makeup just as much as me, this is for you. For those of you, who like me, cannot walk in a makeup store or through the makeup isle without buying at least one thing. It is a real problem, not a bad problem, but a problem. I always find a reason to get a new product. I have close to 20 different mascaras, just because every time I see a new one, I have to buy it to see what it is like. I will sit in the isle and contemplate if I really need it or not- the answer is always YES. Same product different brand- to test all the possibilities. Same product, same brand- because what if I run out or leave it somewhere. When I put my makeup on my face goes from costing $0 to close to $150 on a basic day, more than that if it is a special day. I take pride in my makeup. It is an art, it is like you are painting your face. Not everyone can do it, and it takes practice. While I have perfected liquid eyeliner, I still have a war with fake eyelashes every time I put them on. Makeup stores are the equivalent of the holy land, but on Earth. I have more pictures of makeup tips on my phone than what is probably healthy. If someone never knew what to get me as a gift, just one new product would make my day.

Happiness:

Walking into the makeup store and just taking in all of its glory.

When you walk in and take a deep breath just because it is so beautiful. It feels like home and you even get homesick.

Feeling like you have your life put together after washing your makeup brushes.

WOW I really have my sh*t together, look at them looking like brand new.

Or using a new brush for the first time.

The new pristine feeling of the bristles is something that only happens once per brush. Am I the only one who sits there and just feels the brush against my face before even actually using it?

Getting your lipstick perfect the first time around.

Your lipstick being perfectly matte.

Watching makeup tutorials is your idea of a good time.

I can spend hours just watching tutorials and if I miss a meal, I am not even mad.

Getting fake lashes on perfect the first time.

No glue all over your eyelids, no glue all over you fingers= success

Your eyeliner being perfectly winged.

Getting a new eyeshadow palette and opening it up to see all of its beauty.

I feel like there should be a chorus of angels singing and my palette should be glowing when i first open it. Just look at how perfect all the mattes, shimmers, and glitters look.

The perfection of an unused lipstick.

No matter how hard you try, it will not stay this perfect. Let this feeling last and remember this moment.

When your contour is flawless.

When you get your eyebrows just right

Eyebrows on fleek. I feel so much more confident and a little dangerous when I have my eyebrows perfected.

And your arch gives you a look to kill with.

Organizing all your makeup and realizing you could start your own store.

Getting a new liquid eyeliner and the tip is super pointy

Nope, I won't have to redo my eyeliner with it being this fine and new. Just look at that line.

And that causes your wing to be so sharp it can cut someone.

Swatching your new makeup palette for the first time.

This is when you really look like an artist with your "paint" all over you.

New makeup being so clean and unused.

Getting complimented on your makeup skills.

"Your makeup always looks so good!" can seriously make a bad day great. I walk around the rest of the day like a badass because I got the most highest of compliments.

Someone asking you to do their makeup.

Me? You want me to do your makeup? Wow I am honored *tear*

Coming home after a night out and your makeup still being a masterpiece.

Bittersweet:

Taking off perfectly done makeup at the end of the day.

Having a clean face is always a glorious feeling, but you're makeup looks so good.

Peeling your fake eyelashes off at the end of the night.

Ahhhh, just one big sigh of relief. While you have these extra attachments to your face gone, it also seems as if your eyelashes are also.

Using up an eyeshadow.

You were well used, and brought me really great selfie opportunities, but now you are gone and will be missed.

Anger:

When people assume you are wearing makeup to impress someone.

Boys do not know the difference. You wear natural makeup and they think you are wearing none. They could not tell you which lip stain was Copenhagen. So why would I spend time on my makeup for them or anyone else? No, I do it for myself.

When it takes 23 tries to get your eyeliner just right.

Getting one good day of sun and your foundation no longer matching your skin tone.

Panic:

Dropping your makeup. Will it be broken? Or will it survive?

Many tears have been shed to all the makeup lost in tragic falls.

When you sneeze right after doing your mascara.

Maybe my eyeliner can cover that? Oops, nope. Now my eyeliner is to thick. What have I done to deserve this. Why do I even bother.

It’s time to go out and you cannot find your perfect lip color that compliments what you’re wearing.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
