Feelings We Experience With Music

Music brings out so many emotions in us, and these feelings should all be relatable to any fan of music.

Feelings We Experience With Music
Music is Life

Music has an amazing way of bringing out the emotions in us, the power to change our mood in a split second. Here are five feelings that we have all felt from music:

The Feels

Ironic because of the title of this article, but still very true. This is almost a pop culture reference, as it seems that every day we can go on social media and see someone talking about how an artist has them in “the feels.” I guess the best way to describe it is that your thinking about that someone, who you either miss or every time you see them you appear to make the same face as the heart eyes emoji. This feeling is accentuated by the music you are listening to, and it really depends on the person. However popular “feels” music comes along the lines of The Weeknd, or Drake’s "Take Care" album.

The Memory

Everyone has that one song that they cannot listen to anymore because it is either connected to a bad memory or a good memory that is tainted by a bad outcome such as a break-up. This can also work in a positive way, such as a song that you heard in a time of celebration, or the most popular version of this is the term “our song,” of a relationship. Either way, when this song comes on our mind immediately snaps to that point in time, that memory, and that may never change unless a new memory is made over the old one.

The Discovery

This is one of my favorite parts of music. It has become much easier to do because of music programs such at Pandora or Spotify. This is when you are just sitting around one day and stumble upon an artist who you’ve never heard of, in fact who nobody has really heard of, and they are good! Sometimes they stay that way, unknown, but there is that special time where later on in time they become popular, and you get to look around at your friends and say “I found this guy.” All they can do is agree, because you’ve been playing this artist ever since you found them, and your friends caught on. This brings about a small amount of pride, as you feel as if you helped make them famous, at least a little bit. My proudest one is G-Eazy, who I discovered in 2011.

The Resurrection

Remember that song that you really liked five years ago? You’ve completely forgotten about it, but then, you hear it again. How could you forget about this song?? It’s a whole new game now, you and that song, back together to take on the world. Don’t worry you will probably overplay it in the first two weeks and forget about it again.

The Hype

That artist you really like is about to drop their new album and go on tour, and you can’t wait! You’ll listen to it right away, your tickets might already be ordered, but be careful, the hype is dangerous. Sometimes we set our expectations to high, because their last album made you fall in love. This new album might not be the same, or all you ever wanted, and the hype can lead to major disappointment. However every once in a while, the artist comes through, and they top their last album, and what a glorious feeling that is when you can fall more in love with their work.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
