Have you already binge-watched all of Mindhunter and Making a Murderer?
Do you find yourself drawn to Sherlock Holmes novels rather than your textbooks? Do you like intrigue, drama, and mystery abound? Well then, TNT's newest show The Alienist has all that and more. Based on the novel by Caleb Carr, The Alienist focuses on the development of crime-fighting technologies like finger-printing and psychology during the Victorian Era. Following three central characters, The Alienist creates an atmospheric and haunting world where murderers lurk around every corner, where only your wits can save you from certain doom.
Though the show is pretty graphic –– this is no surprise, considering the fact it's about old-fashioned serial killers and the people working to stop them –– the chilling plot and captivating characters will keep even the most mystery-opposed of viewers peeking through their fingers in order to get the full story.
The costumes make the interest in what is onscreen even stronger, each character is decked out in timely and beautiful costumes, creating an even more believable atmosphere. The costumes are only half of it, though –– with actors like Dakota Fanning and Luke Evans making up the cast, this show is sure to be entertaining.
With ten episodes expected, The Alienist is sure to be a fascinating and binge-worthy series that will keep you entranced all winter. The first episode is currently streaming on the TNT website, so be sure to check it out the next time you're feeling the need for a little more mystery in your life.
