I'm here to break the barrier between customers and the workers who bust their butts to make sure everything is the way it's supposed to be, from greeting them with a smile, to them leaving the door satisfied with their meal and experience with friends.
All of us as workers have had many situations where we wish we could have said what we really feel here's some of them.
"Please make sure you don't burn the fries."
I may have been here for many years and have heard that phrase utter from your mouth more than once. I do not have control over how your fries are cooked, but sure, I'll remind the cook and have her roll her eyes at me because she filled both of her baskets up for people who want their fries normal.
"I know it's 9:58, and you close at 10:00, but is there anyway I can make an order."
Of course you can make an order, even though almost everything is put in it's place and cleaned up, the fryers are two minutes away from being turned off and all of our machines are scrubbed and drying, I will go completely out of my way to make your five large blizzards and three six-piece chicken strip baskets.
You can probably tell that I work at Dairy Queen.
"You look so happy today."
Well I have been at this job for seven years now, I'm a twenty-three-year-old college graduate and I haven't been able to find my career yet, I'm in debt from college loans, and I only make eight dollars and ten cents an hour. And I still live at home, so yeah, I'm the happiest person alive today.
"Do you guys sell blizzards?"
This one is my absolute favorite. We have been in business for over fifty years and half of that time we have been selling numerous amounts of blizzards. Almost every order that is taken has a blizzard with it. For us to run out of blizzards would be as bad as a zombie or clown apocalypse, which means is never going to happen.
"Can I substitute a cone for a sundae?"
Not only is this irritating but time consuming for us. To go grab our supervisor to see if that will work but we also have to completely redo that section of the order to meet your needs.
"Do you like working here?"
If you're asking if I love cleaning up after people and my co-workers messes, the stink rising from the bathroom floors and the ice cream flying in my face? Then yes, I absolutely love my job because I am trying to better myself.
