To the fans of The Fast and the Furious. This is for you
It should be obvious for any true fan, even though many might not like the idea; that soon Luke Hobbs, Dwayne Johnson (The Rock), is going to take over the leadership role from Dominic Toretto, Vin Diesel. Dominic is the character that made many fall in love with the series at the beginning. What’s the first thing you think of when Dominic Toretto pops into your head? That answer should be family. But, it was coded in this last movie, Dominic might not always be about family. Yes I know he does come back to his family in the end (spoiler alert). The true actuality behind this plan has to be for people to get used to the concept of Luke Hobbs being in charge. Thinking about it, Dwayne Johnson is basically just a more macho version of Vin Diesel. Don’t be surprised if Luke Hobbs takes over as the leader in the near future.
The other problem that any fan of the series should have is the decline in street racing. The series gained its popularity from millions because of the street races that were the center point on the big screen. Now we have explosions, tanks, and aircraft taking center stage of the movies. It doesn’t get much better than having a good ole fashion battle to see who the superior person is. Now, the movie is twisted towards explosions which are supposed to make the show more action packed. But, I think many can agree that the street races were the real action of the movies. This gave the movies a realistic approach. Illegal street racing takes place all across the world. Do the actions scenes like in the latest movies happen all the time? No they don’t. Thinking of The Fast and the Furious, street racing is what I think of. Not all of this explosions and gun fighting we’ve come accustomed to. The creators need to bring back more street racing, not just one scene at the beginning. Take the series back to the basics, the true fans who’ve stuck along will appreciate it greatly.
In the end, no matter what we think, there’s one thing that all fans of The Fast and the Furious can agree upon is that we miss Brian O’Conner, Paul Walker, more than words can describe. Remember we’re all one big family.
