10 Reasons Your 'Fun Girl Fall' Will Never Compete With My Hot Girl Summer

With the fall semester starting for a lot of students, many of us are getting ready to wave goodbye to summer. And you would think that this means a lot of people are mourning the end of summer, right? Well, if you use the internet like most millennials, you've probably seen a lot of people already posting that they're excited for summer to end so fall can begin. In fact, some people are posting things like "fall can't come soon enough" or showing Halloween-related pictures before it's even September!

Part of me understands where they're coming from. I will admit that fall is my favorite season. However, just because fall is a great season doesn't mean that you won't miss summer or should abandon enjoying your last few moments of fun in the sun. I bet that one month into fall, you'll find yourself missing at least one thing that you enjoyed about summer. Here are 10 reasons why you're going to find yourself missing summer soon enough.

1. Summer Vacation

Summer vacation is going to be the number one thing you'll miss about summer! Even if you had a summer job, you're most likely going to miss not having to juggle both schoolwork and a job. And if you took summer courses, then you're likely going to miss going on vacay during the summer. Summer vacations are definitely something that you can't enjoy during the fall!

2. Going To The Pool

You may be able to go to an indoor pool during the fall, but you definitely can't swim outside like you can on sunny summer days. Relaxing in a refreshing pool on a nice hot day is something that anyone would miss during the fall! You also definitely can't enjoy relaxing on a float as much in an indoor pool, which is why going to an outdoor pool is something that you'll find yourself missing about the summer.

3. Sunny Weather

Autumn may bring cool weather during the season, but it doesn't always include constant sunny days. The fall can bring clouds or cool temperatures, which may seem nice the first day but can grow old over time. Cloudy or overcast weather can bring down anyone's mood, especially if they're already stuck inside writing papers or completing assignments.

4. Tanning

You may be able to go get a spray tan during the fall, but you can't go outside and sit in the sun getting a natural tan. Tanning is one of the best things about summer since you can sit outside and relax in the warm sun (don't forget the SPF, though!). During the fall, the only way you can get a tan is if you go to a tanning salon, and that's only if you have the money - it's not good for your skin, either! And if you're someone like me who not only struggles to get a tan but also loses it within a second of being inside, you'll miss being less pale during the summer.

5. Being Able To Wear Shorts

I don't know about you but one of the things that I always find myself missing the most about summer is being able to wear shorts all the time. Wearing jeans can get old after a while, just like wearing a coat can get old during the winter. And even if you're one of those types of people who attempts to brave it out and wear shorts when it's below 30 degrees (more power to you!), you'll still find yourself missing being able to wear them without freezing your butt off.

6. Having The Time To Read As Many Books As You Want

If like me you're big into reading books, you'll find that when summer ends it's harder to make time for reading, especially if you're a student in either college or high school. Reading during the summer is especially nice since you find yourself reading at the pool or on the beach during a vacation. But in the fall, it's harder to squeeze in time to read almost any book that isn't school-related.

7. Watching A Marathon Of Shows And Movies

Even though there are marathon moments for movies and shows during Halloween and Christmas, it's harder to watch as many shows and movies when you're in school during the fall, or at least be able to binge-watch anything. If you're taking a lot of hard classes during the fall, then it can be hard to even finish one season of a show. So unless you won't be doing much this school year, you'll find yourself missing the days when you could watch Netflix and chill during the summer.

8. Enjoying Summer Beverages And Foods

Summer beverages are one of the best things to enjoy during the sunny season! If you like being able to drink different iced coffees, flavors of iced teas, or lemonade, then you'll definitely find yourself missing this during the fall when your drink options are more limited. Even if fall is KING when it comes to hot drinks, like hot chocolate or pumpkin lattes, you won't be able to enjoy any cool beverages for a while. Also, if you enjoy food or dessert during the summer such as strawberry popsicles or ice cream, it's harder to enjoy them during the fall with the cooler weather.

9. Having An Easier Time Finding Ripe Fruits And Veggies

I don't know about you, but I find that fruits are never ripe during fall and winter. And if you are constantly eating different fruits, or at least using them to cook, you're likely going to miss not having to search through several stores to find ripe ones. Especially if you like fruit that's in-season during the summer, like watermelons or strawberries.

10. Being Able To Show Off Your Swimsuit

Finally, one other thing to miss about summer is being able to show off your swimsuit. If you enjoyed wearing bikinis or trying different full-piece swimsuit styles over the summer, then you'll likely miss wearing them during the fall.

Instead of wishing for fall to come sooner, you should enjoy the last few weeks of summer, especially with Labor Day coming up. Fall may be a great season, but summer does have things that you can't enjoy during any other season! And you really don't realize how much you enjoy doing activities during the summer, like swimming and tanning, until you have to go a year without them.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
