No one wants to be looked down upon, especially by their peers and others in society. This is why so many people consider themselves to be "christian." They use this label, as a way to fit in somewhere in this crazy world. I am not saying that it is bad to be a christian, that would make me a hypocrite myself. What I am trying to say is that like anything else in the world, do not try and pretend to be someone or something you are not because when you do, it usually ends up biting you in the butt worse than you imagined. But why would you put in all the effort to pretend to be a christian and say you have accepted Christ when you really have not even given it a second thought? Props to you for convincing people though, I mean you must be a great actor.
To me though, that just seems like a lot of wasted effort and time you could be devoting to something else you are truly passionate about. Is it because you do not want to stick out in the world? News flash for you, by calling yourself a christian you are already doing that. You just put a label on yourself. So what if you go to church, read scripture, lead worship or prayer? What is the point of acting so devoted? If your heart is not really into it then why do it? What do you gain by pretending?
When you are really a true christian, you have put your full faith in God, This means that you have accepted Jesus as your savior. It means that you believe he did die on the cross for you and me. That there is no other God, and you should only worship him. You trust that he will guide you in life especially when it all seems hopeless. You are the captain, but you should let God be your guide. Being a true christian means that you are willing to stand alone for what you believe in when it is you against the world.
Do not just call yourself a christian because you do "all the things a good christian should do" because honestly that is a lie. You do not have to be this angelic saint to call yourself a christian. You also do not have to act perfect because no one is as hard as you may try to be. Do not be a fake christian just because you want to fit in. Just because you want to be a car, standing in the garage does not make you a car. It makes you a wannabe. The same thing goes for church. Just because you go to church, does not mean that you are a christian.
