I'm sure you're hard-core judging this article purely based off the title alone, and I don't blame you. But I was reading The Skimm a few days ago and their "word to know" was "flonde" aka a fake blonde, and I thought it would be an interesting thing to write about this week, so here it goes. For some reason, the majority of the girls I know that dye their hair end up changing their hair color to blonde, myself included. And while I personally believe the saying of "blondes have more fun" to be true, there are some downsides to being a fake blonde.
The maintenance is a lot of work.
You have to touch up your roots every 4 weeks, or else people will actually know you weren't born blonde (the horror...), and let me tell you, it's neither easy nor cheap to find the time to keep your roots looking pristine, especially during school (hello classes, homework, meetings, and social life).
People ask: "So what's your ACTUAL hair color?" once they figure out you're not *actually* a natural blonde.
Well, not blonde... Thanks for reminding me that I'm not naturally blonde (may or may not be a natural red head, shhhh).
Then you get: "You know, you look better as a blonde," if you change your hair color to anything else.
Someone actually told me that RIGHT AFTER I dyed my hair brown. But there's a reason I dye my hair blonde: because I know I look better as a blonde than I do with my natural hair color, but thanks for your approval.
Blonde jokes, so many blonde jokes.
But it's okay because Elle Woods graduated from Harvard Law School, so being blonde doesn't make me any dumber.
