"Faith goes beyond this realm and is found only in complete dependence upon our savior." — Unknown
Now let's face it, we all get disappointed. Maybe you applied for a job you didn't get, failed an important exam, or got into a fight with a friend. It all hurts. It all disappoints. But you do not have to let these disappointments devastate you.
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." — Jeremiah 29:11
Now I understand more than anyone that disappointment can be a huge roadblock for faith. I am in a sorority and applied for tons of appointed officer positions and the two I really wanted I did not get. While I still received a position it was not the one I thought I needed, I thought I deserved, I thought I prayed enough for. I spent a few days letting my disappoint devastate me. It was difficult for me to overcome this, but I had a realization that God had to have done this for a reason. He knew that the plans he had for me. He knew what I could handle. He knew what I was ready for. So I took this disappointment and decided I needed to grow in my faith. I found a great devotional and turned my negative energy into positivity. I let God speak to me and I am so glad I did.
I also sympathize with people who do not always have the easiest time redirecting their disappointment. That is where friendship comes into play. This is something that is so difficult. Often times we do not want to tell people we are weak, sad, internally struggling, but sometimes that is exactly what we need to do. When you did fail that quiz or not get a scholarship we applied to, be honest will the people around you. Do not push your friends and family away in your time of need. The most disappointing moments in your life are the times you need to be surrounded by friends. Invite someone you have not talked to in a while to get coffee or go to a gym class. Being surrounded and at ease will be a great way to get over whatever is disappointing you.
Going through your path of life just keep in mind that you have your faith, you have your friends, you have your family and with these, you can fight back against disappointment no matter how devastating it may be.
