Success is the only way we know how to live. Do better. Be Better. Achieve better. This is pounded into our lives from day one to try to be our best, which we should. Along the lines somewhere though, we weren't taught that we have to fail too. Not "sometimes you will fail, it's okay" type lesson. No, we HAVE to fail -- it is the only way to learn and grow.
I think that the fear of fail has stemmed from the pressure of success. Success isn't about being the best for yourself anymore, it's more about being good at what you do so other people notice. Failure is a negative stigma that we have socially. If you fail other will look down upon you and scoff. Why are they laughing though? We have all failed. Everyday we are graced with the ability to live and do what we want, but this also comes with the ability to fail. The ability to fail is just as amazing though as the ability to succeed because it shows you tried. You tried to be something you werent so in the end you made a better version of yourself. How many stories have we heard from the successful where their biggest life lesson was from when they failed and thought that it was the end? The answer is all of the.
The difference between these achievers and the rest of the world though is not their inability to fail once they get successful, its their passion and drive to see that once they fail and get knocked down that they will not stay there. All the time I hear successful people say "I don't fail, I'm not a failure." What we dont see is that they do mess up and get broken down, but they dont look at it as failure. They look at it as a chance to be better than they were before.
Maybe this is the secret to teaching humans not to be scared of failure. Maybe we should teach them that failing isn't even a bad thing, it's a chance to recreate everything all over again. Failure is a redo that is granted upon us when we can't tell if we need it or not. Failure is a new chance. It's a new shot at remaking the sandwich you messed up and put mustard on instead of mayo. It's a chance for you to move to a new city, be broke, come back home and try again when you feel more secure. It is a chance for you to lead the company team for a new idea, fail miserably, get fired and then stumble across a new job where you will succeed. The thing about failing is that it cant get worse from where you are at. Failure is the only redo button we get in life, so we might as well use it as it comes even if it is everyday...because one day we will look back and be appreciate of the times we failed because we are successfully sitting at the top.
