As a high schooler, college may seem strict and frightening. It's truly not all that bad, and honestly, some classes are easier than high school classes. Here are ten facts about college that you may not know.

1. Homework really isn't even a thing.

Unless you just spend the whole class period on Twitter or Instagram, you normally won't have work outside of class. Usually, professors allow you to work on assignments or papers during their lecture period.

2. Professors are so chill.

As long as you show up to class and do your work, most professors literally do not care. Obviously, they want you to pass, but your education and future are up to you so you have a lot of free reign.

3. Wearing pajamas to class is acceptable.

The good thing about college is that no one really cares what you're wearing or how you look. Just about everyone rolls straight out of bed and goes to class.

4. Textbooks aren't always a must.

In the six semesters, I have been in college, I have only rented/purchased a book for six classes. My professors either provided me with PowerPoints, or the class was so easy that extra materials weren't necessary.

5. Naps will become a daily routine.

Once you get to college, it's like you're in kindergarten all over again. A daily nap is a must!

6. You will be welcomed to the university by fees.

Fees, fees, and more fees. You make ask, "Where are these fees going?" Well please let us know when you find out.

7. Ramen Noodles and Easy Mac will become your best friend.

Not only will these two food groups become like gold to you because you're poor, but also because they are quick, easy and require minimal effort to cook.

8. The 'Freshman 15' is real.

'Freshman 15' is really unavoidable. Between the Waffle House and the pizza late at night or the morning donuts because you're in a hurry, it will haunt you.

9. You will change your major at least twice.

Going into freshman year we have it all figured out, right? Wrong. Changing your major at least twice is totally normal. What's college without a few mental breakdowns?

10. College is all about what YOU make it.

You can make it the best four years of your life or you can make it the worst. You can get really involved on campus or you can lay low. It is literally all up to you.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
