Thanksgiving is the one holiday everyone celebrates. It's unique because there is no religious or cultural relation, as long as you're in the U.S you're going to eat turkey this coming Thursday. Since so many Americans celebrate the holiday there is an abundance of reason why we're so excited for Thanksgiving.
You get to go home.
Whether you are at school or live in a different place than where you grew up, you get to return home for Thanksgiving. As corny as it sounds there really is no place like home for the holidays.
Everything you eat is delicious.
Between turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie and whatever else your family serves everything is delicious. The entire premise of the holiday is food!
You get the best sleep of your life.
Whether turkey really does make you tired or if it's just the large intake of food no one can deny that the best sleep of your life happens the night of Thanksgiving. Some can't wait and pass out on the couch watching football.
You get to see extended family.
We all live busy lives and can forget about our extended families. On holidays like Thanksgiving you get to hang out with your cousins and other family members and catch up.
You reflect on your life and realize how thankful you are.
Some families go around the table and say what they are thankful for before they begin eating. Even if your family doesn't do this its important to take a minute and think of everything in your life you are thankful for.
