5 Reasons It's Great To Be A Star Wars Fan

A long time ago in a galaxy far down inside the mind of George Lucas, the idea of an epic, world changing space opera was born. Using influences such as Flash Gordon and the samurai films of Akira Kurosawa, Lucas created a fantasy world of romance, comedy, and adventure that is, the Star Wars universe.

There are millions of Star Wars fans out there in the world and possibly other worlds. Here are some reason's why it is great to be one of those fans.

1. It's relevance will last longer than Yoda's life.

In the Star Wars universe Yoda, one of the greatest Jedi of all time, lived to be 900 years old. Star Wars' legacy and impact will go far beyond that. It is like a priceless pocket watch passed down for every following generation to enjoy.

2. Like our universe, it is ever expanding.

So take the pocket watch example from point one, and add this to it. Every time the watch is passed down a diamond is added to the outside or faded, scratched parts are repaired. Before Disney bought the rights Star Wars had a great expanded universe in books, video games, and comics, and its happening today. Several new books and a whole new reboot of the comics by Marvel is something every good Star Wars fan should be excited about.

3. We have "The Force".

The other day I was standing in line at the Chick-fil-a and that day I had decided to wear a Star Wars shirt (I have several), and this guy walked by me and he was wearing a Star Wars shirt! We made the awkward eye contact and gave each other a respectful nod. I had meet a brother. A brother not by blood, but by the Force. Every Star Wars fan is in a family. We have our crazy uncles and aunts, but it's a family that we love nonetheless.

4. We are a diverse bunch.

It does not matter what your age is, what gender you are, the color of your skin, how much money is in your bank account you can be a Star Wars fan. The old timers who took their kids to the movies to see it in the 70's still love it. The kids who have had bonding time with their parents over the old movies will do the same with their children. Those experiences are universal and can be found happening all over the world.

5. The Force is Awakening

We have a new movie coming out! Who isn't excited about that!

In conclusion, it is a great time to be excited about Star Wars and to be a new or tried and true fan. It is a franchise that will withstand the test of time and continue to reach and entertain millions if not billions around the world. May the Force be with you!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
