JUST HIT ME... And Pay My Tuition

It is one week from exams, which means we are all a little stressed if not completely in shambles. And as a college student, I can imagine everyone has used the saying, "JUST HIT ME," when crossing the street to class, or leaving an exam that you're 100% sure you bombed. If you can relate to any of this then please keep reading. Everyone knows that exams are nothing but the worst, especially when you have winter break on your mind. From one college student to another, here are some helpful tips to get you through these next two weeks without using the saying, "JUST HIT ME," next time you walk across the street in front of a bus, some random Fiat, or a person biking away from their problems. Because in all honesty, who can guarantee us this free tuition that we constantly reassure ourselves if someone did hit us?

#1: GET SLEEP

I cannot stress this enough. It may seem repetitive, but sleep is a major key in getting through these strenuous two weeks. Going to bed at 3 a.m. and trying to wake up for your 8 a.m. is not humanly possible, so if you are doing this clearly you must be a superhero. But, for everyone else, I highly recommend going to bed early and waking up early too. Try to get eight hours of sleep every night, and take at least one nap every day. Getting more sleep will allow you to retain more information which basically means you are going to 4.0 these exams.

#2: EAT NUTRITIOUS FOODS

Eating whole and nutritious foods will not only make you feel better but give your brain energy to power through these exams. Try to limit the amount of "junk" food you consume, and monitor your sugar and sodium levels. See how you feel after this first week, and if you love it, turn it into a healthy lifestyle! Eating nutrient dense foods will provide your body with natural vitamins that will keep you energized for your last minute homework assignments, essays, and everything in between.

#3: MAKE COFFEE YOUR NEW BEST-FRIEND

Okay, so by "coffee" I do not mean frappuccinos or sugary drinks that are basically hot chocolate. If the word latte, macchiato, or cappuccino seems foreign to you, visit your local coffee shop and ask a barista about them and try one that interests you. I promise this will be a life-changing experience. And who knows, I hear if you go to a cute coffee shop you are destined to meet your future husband. Or maybe you'll see some of your peers studying for the same exam that you are freaking out about.

#4: MAKE LISTS

Exam week is basically trying to recall everything from the beginning of time and store it in your brain. This usually leads to mental breakdowns and going through several boxes of tissues. Together, let's help save our planet and all of humanity by curing your disorganization. To do this, simply open up your notes on your smart phone and write out what you need to do today. Do this every day, and see how much you get done. This can be a grocery list, homework assignments that need to get done, or even your glamorous Christmas list.

#5: TREAT YOURSELF

If none of the steps above helped or you just need more advice for these exams, keep reading because I can guarantee that this last step will set your mind at ease before these exams. Every day, try to balance your schedule by adding in at least one hour of "me" time. This can be taking a hot bath with your brand new bath bombs, practicing yoga, or watching your favorite Netflix series. These last two weeks try your best to relax, because you got this! Prepare yourself for these exams so you can walk in there confident like Beyonce, because who doesn't want to be like her?

This is for the girls who have dealt with an emotionally, mentally, physically or verbally abusive father.

The ones who have grown up with a false lens of what love is and how relationships should be. The ones who have cried themselves to sleep wondering why he hurts you and your family so much. This is for all the girls who fall in love with broken boys that carry baggage bigger than their own, thinking it's their job to heal them because you watched your mother do the same.

Blair Waldorf Quote
"DESTINY IS FOR LOSERS. IT'S JUST A STUPID EXCUSE TO WAIT FOR THINGS TO HAPPEN INSTEAD OF MAKING THEM HAPPEN." - BLAIR WALDORF.

The world stopped in 2012 when our beloved show "Gossip Girl" ended. For six straight years, we would all tune in every Monday at 9:00 p.m. to see Upper Eastside royalty in the form of a Burberry headband clad Blair Waldorf. Blair was the big sister that we all loved to hate. How could we ever forget the epic showdowns between her and her frenemy Serena Van Der Woodsen? Or the time she banished Georgina Sparks to a Christian summer camp? How about that time when she and her girls took down Bart Bass? Blair is life. She's taught us how to dress, how to be ambitious, and most importantly, how to throw the perfect shade.

too tired to care

We've all been there. From move-in day to the first finals week in college, your first term is an adventure from start to finish. In honor of college decisions coming out recently, I want to recap some of the most common experiences college freshmen experience.

1. The awkward hellos on move-in day.

You're moving your stuff onto your floor, and you will encounter people you don't know yet in the hallway. They live on your floor, so you'll awkwardly smile and maybe introduce yourself. As you walk away, you will wonder if they will ever speak to you again, but don't worry, there's a good chance that you will make some great friends on your floor!

Recently I completed my freshman year of college, and boy, what an experience. It was a completely new learning environment and I can't believe how much I learned. In an effort to save time, here are the ten biggest lessons I learned from my first year of college.

1. Everyone is in the same boat

For me, the scariest part of starting school was that I was alone, that I wouldn't be able to make any friends and that I would stick out. Despite being told time and time again that everyone had these same feelings, it didn't really click until the first day when I saw all the other freshman looking as uneasy and uncomfortable as me. Therefore, I cannot stress this enough, everyone is feeling as nervous as you.
