Everything You Need For Success Already Exists

Take what you know, what is known, and think about it differently.

Believe it or not, you have access to everything you could possibly need for success. Creation is over. Everything exists. This means that all the tools you could need and want are within reach, and it's your job to use your imagination, creativity, intuition, perception, and reason in order to utilize and shape those things according to your desires.

Ideas are the result of knowledge gathered, processed, and applied in a new way. We all have the same platform (albeit different amounts of resources) from which to gather and implement our ideas.

Consider the following scenario:

In 1908, Henry Ford and his Ford Motor Company released the first every Model T automobile. Before it's introduction, Ford was scoffed at for his efforts, many of which were perceived to be fruitless, wastes of time and money. There were trains of course, but those were industrial sized, meant for hauling masses of supplies and people. Who could ever get around on a big, noisy machine as Ford desired?! Up until this point, the primary method of transportation was a horse and buggy. A bit bumpy on the road, sure, but it got you from A to B. And so, people were satisfied. But Ford envisioned a day where his cars would line streets and driveways across America.

The question is: how is it that this idea of Ford's had never been thought of before? Why now?

Ford didn't discover the fuel, nor invent the wheel. He didn't develop the metal, nor create the nails and screws that held it together. Everything that Ford required in order to build his automobile already existed in the world. Furthermore, much of it was commonly used in society. Yet, it was not until Ford came along with an idea - a vision - to use these things in a different way did the world finally receive the automobile. He chose to reorder and rearrange knowledge already gained to fit his purpose, and to manifest his vision. And his conviction in his idea made the desired result inevitable.

I think this is so telling, and a great illustration of that fact that the tools we need already exist, we must only rearrange them in a certain way to meet our needs.

The Wright brothers didn't invent the materials from which they created the world's first airplane, nor did they discover the science that dictated its success. They took that which was already known in the universe and rearranged it just so until it met their purpose.

The concept could go on and on.

Don't be overwhelmed by the scale or complexity of your goals. Know that it all exists, so you must only use it in a different way to suit your desire. Perhaps most importantly, use your IMAGINATION. Take what you know, what is known, and think about it differently. Tinker, explore, fail, learn, grow.

You have everything you need.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
