What is a hero?
A general term for a hero is someone is "admired or idealized for courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities". When we think of heroes, we instantly think of soldiers, police officers, and firefighters. We think of the citizens who run into burning buildings to save an innocent life.
A hero is someone that moves us to love them. A hero can even be someone that has displayed awesome qualities that elicit an emotional response. A football player that throws an incredible catch for a touchdown can be a hero to some.
Many times, a hero has to go through something traumatic to demonstrate their mental, physical, and emotional strength. We start to look up to them as a role model for strength and perseverance.
Being a hero isn't determined by your vocation or social standing. The 44 passengers aboard flight 93 during 9/11 were just regular citizens that sacrificed their lives so that others could live. Those people are heroes.
A hero can be virtually anyone.
