“Travel far enough, you meet yourself.”
Young adulthood can be a very stressful time, as the majority of us are already aware of. With college, bills, loans and just trying to figure out what you want to do with your life, everything just gets extremely overwhelming. The idea of traveling doesn’t always seem like a good idea to people, but in fact, it is merely the best time to jet off.
Some of us get so lost and confused trying to figure out who we are and what we want to do. Having the opportunity to travel can easily change that. In the most cliché way possible, traveling helps people discover who they really are. You never know what encounters you will have, what kinds of people you will meet and all of the places you could see.
You don’t even have to travel abroad. Here in America there are so many different people and cultures that no matter where you go, it is always a new learning experience. We are pretty lucky in that sense. Just traveling from state to state you can see the change in cultures and personalities. You don’t really get that in many other countries.
I understand that the majority of the people reading this article don’t have loads of money that they can drop to just travel around the country or world. But if you are really passionate about it, make it happen. You don’t have to stay in the nicest hotels. It is usually more pocket-friendly to stay in hostels when possible. It is here where you meet other students and young adults from all over the world who are doing the same thing you are.
Many people could argue with my theory I have stated. “You don’t need to waste all of your money now.” “This isn’t the only opportunity you will have to travel.” These are valid points, but in my mind, tomorrow isn’t certain. You never know what the future holds. Who knows if this opportunity will be in front of you years down the road.
Travel while you are young -- while you still can. Learn about cultures you never knew existed so you can tell your kids and even your grandkids about them in the future. Be your own inspiration.
“Travel while you’re young and able. Don’t worry about the money, just make it work. Experience is far more valuable than money will ever be.”
