Fall is coming, which means winter is not too far behind it. The weather is about to get super cold and very unpleasant, especially when you're used to walking to class in just a T-short and shorts. As you go home for fall break, keep in mind these winter essentials so you are prepared to conquer the upcoming winter.
Parka
I'm not talking a wimpy little North Face fleece you probably wear when you go shopping and you're only outside for a minute or less. I'm talking about a puffy winter coat that reaches your ankles. As you go to classes in the dead of winter, who cares if you look ridiculous when you're nice and warm?
Snow Boots
Once again, those basic UGGs of yours will not cut it when you're walking in a foot of snow to class. You need some heavy duty snow boots that are waterproof and also keeps your toes warm.
Gloves
You will not regret getting yourself a pair of gloves to keep your hands warm. They are great for when you're texting and don't want to get frostbite.
Hat
Or earmuffs or a knitted headband. But a hat will protect your hair from the snow and keep it (somewhat) dry.
Cabin Socks
These extra warm socks will help with the cold if you hate having cold feet.
Scarf
Such a simple piece of fabric, yet makes a huge difference when walking around campus in the winter.
Long Sleeve Shirts
The temperature of the academic buildings are very unpredictable. Wear a long sleeve shirt just in case the building is just as cold inside as it is inside. Or if you still are shivering from being outside, a long sleeve will help with that.
Blankets
Not exactly for walk to class (unless you're desperate) but perfect for the dorm when it's a little chilly.
