Making The Most Out Of Christmas Break

Don't stress about getting to do everything, choose what makes you happiest.

As a college freshman, I cannot wait to go home for Christmas break. Don't get me wrong, I am so happy at my school. I wouldn't change my decision for the world. I have found friends here that I adore, I know all the best places to eat around campus, and I actually enjoy my classes, most of the time. However, nothing sounds better than a Christmas movie, cuddled up on my couch with my dog with no more stress about finals as my mom is baking something delicious.

With a month off for Christmas break, there are so many options, things to do, and people to see. I know the month is going to fly by and I am determined to make the most out of it.

Of course, I am going to set aside ample time to spend with my high school friends that I haven't seen in three months. I will definitely need a girls day, getting our nails done and telling the stories about the crazy memories we have created while we were apart. The friends I have made here are wonderful but nothing beats a good gossip session with my best friends at home.

Shopping. The word that makes for a long day of fun and an empty bank account afterward. I will definitely be chasing those holiday deals with my mom and sister. As always, we will stop by Starbucks to prepare for our long day out and end the day with a Christmas movie by the fire while we bake cookies.

Don't forget about the Christmas lights! After all, this time only comes once a year and it truly is the most wonderful time of the year. Take in the moments of driving around, house to house, admiring the array before your eyes.

This year, I'm going to go to all the Christmas parties I'm invited to. The amount of joy that surrounds the holiday season never ceases to amaze me and I want to be apart of it all while I'm home this year. No matter how many times I get asked: "How is school going?" I will make it my mission to be at every party. This is a great way to keep connections with family and friends both near and far, who knows when you might need a place to crash on your next road trip!

There are so many options for Christmas break and prioritizing the choices I have is going to be difficult because after all, a month isn't that long. While I am faced with many options, I am going to do what makes me happiest. Go on the late night adventures, visit your friends and family, and make the most out of this time because you'll never get it back. Also, don't forget to take the leftovers back to school with you! It will be like a little piece of heaven as you warm them up in the microwave.
