The semester is getting into the home stretch, and we’re currently in the mire of exams, essays, and stress galore. What better way to combat the anxieties of college life than by getting nostalgic about a time with no stress: your childhood?

Specifically, I like to think of my personal favorite part of childhood: cartoons.

Everyone had their collection of cartoons that they watched when they were a kid, and your favorite cartoon might just give you some insight into how well you’ll handle the rest of the semester.

1. SpongeBob SquarePants

You’re going to tackle the rest of the semester with a positive attitude! Nothing can get you down! You may not be the most well-versed in your subject material, but that doesn’t matter. The semester will be full of adventures, and everything will turn out just fine.

2. Jimmy Neutron

You’ve got this, no question, you’ve got the brains for it. Sure, you may take things too far sometimes, and you may get yourself in a little over your head, but you can use your skills to get yourself out of any situation.

3.The Fairly OddParents

You are not the best student, by a long stretch. You are not prepared; you barely know what class you’re in. But everything always seems to work itself out in the end. It’s like magic.

4. Danny Phantom

So, the beginning of the semester definitely killed you a little bit. Like, you were actually dead. But you picked yourself up, and now you’re going to take on the rest of your semester with your kick-ass ghost powers.

5. Dexter’s Laboratory

You’re too cool for school, it’s beneath you. You’ll pass your classes, you guess, but your projects are way more important than school, and you want to spend your time perfecting them. If only somebody stopped getting in your way.

6. Courage the Cowardly Dog

No way around it, this semester is just going to destroy you. It’s going to be scary and you’re probably going to cry a lot. And that’s just how it’s going to be this semester.

7. Avatar: The Last Airbender

This is going to be the most serious time of your life. You’re probably in your last semester, or on some kind of graduate track, and everything is on the line. It’s time for you to master everything. But while you do that, definitely make sure to have a laugh and keep your friends close. Friends are everything in times like this.

8. Ed, Edd n Eddy

Let’s be honest, you’re dropping out.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
