As you have scrolled through your Instagram over the last week and continue to over the next few weeks, you will notice an abundance of graduation photos. This can only mean one thing: the end of the spring 2017 semester is upon us. In fact, I am writing this as many of my peers and friends celebrate their graduation from Columbia College Chicago this morning. Congratulations to all of the 2017 graduates!
For those of us with a few more semesters ahead of us, never fear; the end of the semester is still a cause for celebration...and many other emotions leading up to the celebrations. Here are some you may currently be experiencing...
1. When you just have that one assignment left to do.
Whether it is a research paper you have been avoiding for weeks, a project that you never started due to tomorrow, or a take-home final that is due the week after the end of the semester, personally I stand with Coco from Dear White People when she said, "I am fresh out of f*cks to give."
2. When you whine about not wanting to study to your friends who are already done with college.
And you're friends are right, let's all suck it up and finish up the semester so we can all enjoy our summers.3. That one paper you never started, and now you are forced to pull an all-nighter.
Need..sleep...now.4. When the professor expects you all to stay the full class time on the last day of the semester.
I mean, I loved your class and all but we got places we need to go and things we need to be doing. Have a good summer, xoxox.5. When every single assignment is done, every class is done and you figure out that you have three months until the next semester begins.
This is it, your summer vacation and you better believe you're going to enjoy it.6. When you are a commuter student and suddenly remember that most of your friends will be going home for the summer but you'll be here...because you're already home.
You mean you're all leaving me here...?7. When you get the e-mail from the administration reminding you that your U-Pass is going to be deactivated for the summer in a week.
You knew it was coming, but you didn't want to accept it. Unless you are taking summer classes, you are going to have to pay full price for Ventra and the CTA all summer.
