What are emotions?

Emotions

Emotions are beautiful, emotions are feelings that truly come from the heart. Some people chose to hide them, while others chose to embrace them. The effort to define the word "emotion" is endless. There are many assumptions that emotions can be associated with the bad, but who says that they can't be associated with the good? Emotions are feelings that are expressed through facial functions, through heartbeats, and most importantly through behaviors. Behaviors such as; a form of aggression, crying, or deciding to cover your hands with your face. Emotions are emotions. There is no true way to describe them, and we will get overly confused if we even tried. They come from the heart, they are feelings that are felt that not even the mind is truly aware of. People often times decide to conceal them to provide a sense of strength, but I truly beg to differ I believe emotions are beautiful and they are meant to be shown. For example getting butterflies when we are about to see the person we love, turning red when we are nervous, or simply crying when sadness overcomes us. These are all examples of emotions and they are completely natural and people are allowed to feel them. We often times want answers, reasons, explanations, labels to explain what we are feeling. By seeking these things we evolve in a world of self doubt, because emotions are not meant to be reasoned or questioned, they are simply meant to be felt.

Emotions occur to us everyday, we tend to feel sad, happy, angry, and shocked. They are feelings that simply come and go. Emotions allow humans to better understand themselves and most importantly each other. It is a form of expression, a beautiful form I must add. Emotions, emotional experiences, and most importantly emotional expressions are all conditions of human interaction. They are aspects of life that truly keep us sane, and what helps us learn from each other. Emotions are very important in one's life and without emotions there would be no such thing as a normal life.

A different perspective towards emotions can be viewing them as something you need to release and express, something as beautiful as art. Emotions are a piece of art that our bodies construct. They may not be finished, and may never have a finishing point, but they will always bring out beauty. Don't be afraid to show them, to show the world how you truly feel. Open up, let them out, and embrace them. Bring out the emotions, all the beautiful ones you may have hidden inside, and let them flow and meet the world. Think of it as a creation being made, and think of the greatness you will receive once they are created. Take you time, take your space, and look around and guide yourself towards what you feel and what you want to release.

As we may start to reach new levels of allowing ourselves to share our emotions, we start encountering new perceptions of life. We start encountering memories, and feeling ways we may have never felt before. Emotions bring humans together. They help us build connections among each other, and construct a sense of courage. We can interpret emotions as negative or positive but the deep truth is that they are all equal. It's our human judgement that causes them to be bad or good. As humans, we should never be judged for feeling a certain way. Emotions are normal, and they are what keep us sane.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
